I actually started recording this Paul McCartney hit when I had some new gear that I wanted to run
through its paces. I had nothing of my own ready to go, so a cover seemed in order. Mind you, I had
no intention of ever releasing it, but soon I found myself asking Geoff to play bass on it. Colin
replaced the drum machine with—gasp—real drumming. Almost as an afterthought, I asked
them to add some background vocals. Those harmonies turned out to be one of my favorite aspects of
the recording. Then Mark came in to add trombone as the icing on the cake.
